Academy Structure

The academy programme must be sustainable and allow a pathway of development for players throughout the region. The template for sustainability is based upon the following factors which should be in existence before an area an area is selected for Academy status.

The Curriculum Model

The students for which this programme is targeted are elite athletes that have the potential to play at the highest standard and therefore will be already committing significant amounts of time towards Volleyball. The problems occur for young people when the demands of a full time education are compromised by the demands of playing sport at a high level. We believe there are several solutions to this problem and this will depend upon the type of enrolment within the academy.

Tendring Academy – Report on Progress Sept 2008

The Rationale

The academy started in Sept 2007 allowing the college to introduce a unique curricular programme that aimed to create a platform for players to develop a high level of technical competence. The rationale behind Tendring managing a Regional Academy is based upon sound educational practice supplemented by an in depth knowledge of developing volleyball expertise over a 20 year period.
