NVL Women Leicester (A) Match Report 2011-12
Tendring ease past leicester
Tendring 3 - 1 Leicester
A very early start lead the Tendring ladies up to Leicester this weekend to face the home team and Cheshire who they had yet to see in action. After beating Leicester 3-0 at home, Tendring knew what they were facing, however they were bringing a different team which could cause some problems if they were put under pressure.
The first set began strong for the Essex side as they started strong with a new line up in serve receive. With Hannah Robinson and Sophie Haydon out due to injury, Kerry Skinner and new transfer Laura Hodgkinson who is joining the team from Super 8s team Northumbria, where asked to step up to the serve. This became a solid base for the first set and allowed Becky Saunders to distribute the attack across the net evenly. After winning the first set, Leicester upped their game testing Tendring’s defence and took the second set 25-13. Coach Nick Davies highlighted that all players would need to remain active in their defence to be able to pick up Leicester’s erratic attacking. The Tendring ladies picked up their defence and were able to convert this into some strong hitting through the middle from Liz White and Kerry Skinner. This paired with intelligent placing of the ball from Tracey Davies lead the girls to take the next 2 sets beating the home side 3-1.
