Womens NVL back to Winning Ways
Tendring women crashed back into the title race crushing their opposition in straight sets. The defeat was just what the doctor ordered after their previous loss to leaders Northampton and Cambridge. The squad had trained hard after the last
defeat and with injuries causing problems were in danger of having the season come becoming derailed. Setter Robinson was in good form as she won MVP for the match against Tonbridge as the carved through the oppositions defence. Creative attack play by Wood and Leaper gave Tendring a consistent platform on which to build. Liz White produced her best form of the season hitting in the middle. In the 2nd match against Aschombe Linda Zverte and Emily Mansfield dominated the attacking playing with power hitting scoring point after point. The defensive play of the women has improved considerably over the past few months and at the root of this is Libero player Gemma Harvey. Never afraid of throwing herself around the court she defies gravity in keeping the ball off the ground. New signing Asia Pacholek came on as subsitute and show real promised as she played with a good positive attitude impressing the more experienced players. Coach Seb Widlarz was enthusiatic about the win " We really needed this result to restore confidence to the team and winning both games in straight sets was the icing on the cake."
The squad are looking to sign on new players who have played the game before and if you are a beginner and just want to play for fun or learn new skills then you could always come along to the new beginners session on tues. For more details go to the club email found on the website.
