Tendring Collapse Against Boathouse

Tendring 1 - 3 Boathouse Dewsbury

25-20, 15-25, 18-25, 14-25

Report by Neil Masters

On Sunday, with a few aching bodies from the previous days hard fought battle Tendring played newly promoted Boathouse Dewsbury. This team has managed to attract a number of players from Sheffield who have all been involved in the England Development programme over the past several years.

This strength was shown when they took an 6-2 lead. Tendring knew they could compete but were starting to struggle with the persistent powerful service from their opponents. When Tendring controlled the serve they were competitive but without the accurate passing they needed could not exert the kind of pressure they needed to win a match at this level.

Tendring won the first set and despite the high quality of Janice Porter award winner Alex Porter could nit sustain the level.
Boathouse won a close second set and this was the downfall for Tendring, who then lost the next sets relatively easily.
Tendring face the league leaders next Saturday, but for the time being need to concentrate on getting their game back on track for the league match against Richmond.
