Tendring’s league match was against a fellow promotion candidate. Sussex had previously recorded a fantastic win against Tendring's opponents from last weekend and were in high spirits going into the match.
Tendring with big hitting Alex Porter back in the squad had no fears as they had not lost a set to Dolphins in 2 matches, however Dolphins raced to an early lean 8-3. Tendring came back strongly with fantastic offensively play by Stewart Dove and Sonny Chaney. Having a 7 point swing Tendring were finally triumphant winning 25-23.
Tendring’s Libero, Liam Chinnery who claimed the Janice Porter award for his fine passing and defensive plays gave Tendring the base from which to put the attack to Dolphins, a factor they could never get on terms with. An excellent block and service run from Joe Cook took the second set out of reach for Dolphins and Tendring won 25-21. The 3rd set began with Tendring showing their true dominance taking a big lead (8-1), but Dolphins were not going to give up and fought back. It was not going to be enough as setter Nick Davies, found the open hitters time after time. Tendring won the set and a 3-0 win will send shock waves through the league.
