Easy Win For Tendring

Tendring’s old friends in Stowmarket are a tricky team, they were the first team to take a set from Tendring this season. They aren’t the tallest, fastest or skilled of teams but they work their socks off. No other team show’s so much determination in defence. Porter started the middles with R. Everett and Chaney and gave Davies the same instructions again ‘just set middle’. R. Everett has spent much of the season on the bench but has been to every training session and really worked hard on his game this year. This would be his chance to shine.

Tendring raced to an early lead thanks to good block defence play by Chinnery and Chaney. Widlarz played clever and wiped off the block when the kill wasn’t there. As Stowmarket’s game never really got going, Tendring won 25-14. In the 2nd set R. Everett started to link well with Davies as he killed 2 balls and got a block. Cook scored two aces and all the outside players killed the ball by playing clever. R. Everett won the set with an ace 25-19. The 3rd set carried on where the 2nd left off, dominated by the middles, both R. Everett and Cook were either scoring aces or killing the ball at the net. Masters got in on the ace action as he hit his first jump serve of the year. Stowmarket realised today wasn’t going to be their day as a couple of silly errors towards the end sealed their fate, Tendring won 25-14.
