Tendring Send Students Back to Class
For the first time in two months the Tendring starting line up resembled its ‘normal’ faces. Although not at 100% Masters returned to court after a shoulder injury and Widlarz had a got over the flu, leaving J. Everett, Chaney, Davies, Dove and Chinnery to play in their normal roles. Oxford has been on the verge of promotion all season but today Tendring showed why they are top of the league.
Match Coach Porter instructed setter Davies to set the middle as much as possible as there was an obvious mismatch. In the first set Tendring demonstrate their service power and blocking skills. J. Everett was on form and killed the ball multiple times as they ran away to an easy win 25- 9. The 2nd set saw Chaney take control in the middle, at 6 foot 8 no one could stop him. His fellow middle player Cook also started to produce some high quality serving. Oxford couldn’t handle the height and power of Tendring’s middle attack, Tendring won 25-15. The 3rd set saw R. Everett gain some valuable experience in the middle. Tendring took their foot of the gas a little and allowed Oxford to come back but the passing of Masters, Chinnery and Widlarz stopped their come-back from getting to close. Tendring won the game with a powerful cross court hit from Dove.
