Tendring Sign Former GB Player
At the start of this game Tendring would go into the second half of the season with a record of eleven wins and no losses but this weekend would prove to be a difficult one as the squad was depleted to 8 players due to illness and work.
Former GB captain and Match Coach Alex Porter registered before the game just in case. During the warmup England Junior R. Everett pulled his calf and was out for the day meaning the starting line up would have to change again. The first game was against Milton Keynes who had been struggling throughout the season. Tendring got off to a slow start by making silly errors due to playing a different line up causing them to lose the first two sets. Porter started the 3rd and made an instant impact. Milton Keynes prioritised Porter which gave Dove and Davies more space at the net to kill their attacks. Having not played in 2 years Porter’s game was a bit rusty but you could see the magic was still there. At match point down, Chinnery set Porter to keep them in the game. Dove then had two kills in a row to make it 2-1. The forth set was a similar affair, Milton Keynes tried to put a 3 man block on Porter but this just made it easier to for other Tendring attackers. Tendring pull through another close set to level 2-2. This would be Tendring’s first 5 set of the season and Masters performed some amazing defence in his temporary role as libero. As the set closed out Tendring showed why they are top of the table and won the game 3-2.
