Tendring Ladies 1 - 3 Durham

28-26, 14-25, 22-25, 10-25

Report by Chris Frost

Tendring Women played Durham over the weekend, and with a big crowd Tendring hoped to push Durham all the way.

The game started and with a big fab base behind them Tendring started strong. Strong service pressure put Durham under pressure and allowed for some big kill blocks. Durham played smart and were patient and stayed in the game right until the end of the set. Some intelligent hitting from Fran Smith-Daye and Tendring took the first set.

Durham came out and responded, and upped the pressure from the service line. One lapse in concentration, set back Tendring. Irregardless of strong hitting from Chaniel Nelson the team could never get back into the set. 1-1 the score.

The third set, again saw both teams start well. However it was consistency in which Tendring once again struggled with. Some very strong hitting and great defence saw Durham once again take the advantage. However some strong serving at the end saw Tendring come right back into the game, and they were very unlucky not to take the set.

The final set saw Durham finish the match off 3-1. A very good game of volleyball which promoted the sport for all to see. A big thank you to all those that came down to cheer on the team or for those that watched on our live-stream.

The women finished off the first half of the season 5 wins and 4 losses, a good start to the year!
MVP was awarded to Chaniel Nelson.
