U16 Boys National Championships Report 2011-12

This month has been very busy with the first round of the National Junior Volleyball Championships.

Under 16 Boys

On Saturday 26th November the Under 16 Boys travelled to Chadwell Heath to compete.

The team was made up of Jack Bartlett, Hobie Wright, Tom Rowson, Adam Duce, Peter Gibson, Jack Panton, Jonah Thomas, Bradley Forsyth, Alex Stacey and Harry Owen (captain). Of the 10 boys involved, 8 will still be eligible in this age group competition next year.

They faced tough competition from 5 other teams on the day. They faced a very strong Chadwell Heath ‘A’ team and were beaten quite convincingly. We then faced the Chadwell Heath ‘B’ team and while we were beaten again, we were successful in achieving all of our pre-match targets set.

Our third match was against the Lynx Volleyball Club. We were very competitive but were again beaten 2 sets to nil.

Our final matches were against UEA-Norwich and Bexley and we notched up our first two wins of the tournament finishing 2 set to nil winners in both.

The boys were outstanding throughout the day and finished fourth in a pool of six. Special mention goes to Harry Owen for his outstanding hitting and to Jack Panton for his awesome serving in the final match of the day.
