Tendring Volleyball Club Annual General Meeting

27^th May 2010

Present: Mark Harris, Liam Chinnery, Sebastian Widlarz, Nick Davies, Alex Porter, Neil Masters, Kat Harris, Emily Mansfield, Nick Davies, Sonny Chaney, Ryan Everett, Vicky Southgate, Gemma Harvey

Apologies: Hannah Robinson, Beth White, Kari Chase, Linda Zverte

Matters arising from previous minutes: None.

Officer Reports

1.0 Chairman’s Report

1.1.           recognized success of NVL teams described it  as best season to date

1.2.           highlighted the selection of junior players for national and regional teams

1.3.           TVC awarded Volley 2 in recognition of how the club is organised

1.4.           School links are once again improving

1.5.           Club developing volleyball in Manningtree, Colchester and Clacton

1.6.           Recognized how fortunate the club is to have high quality coaches

1.7.           Urged the committee to meet on a more regular basis

1.8.           The committee is dependant upon the staff at TTC and this is a situation that needs to change if the club is to move forward. This was partly why the committee did not meet which is an area of concern.

1.9.           Fees have been paid with considerable success which has given the club much greater stability

1.10.       The club would benefit if there were more social events

2.0 Women’s Captain

2.1.           Good season considering the small number of players

2.2.           recognized the commitment shown throughout the season

2.3.           Role of the coach was pivotal to teams cohesion and its success

2.4.           Need more players with similar commitment

2.5.           consider develop less experienced players with development squad

3.0 Men’s Captain

3.1.           Excellent season in which all players showed commitment

3.2.           All fixtures fulfilled

3.3.           Organisation had gone smoothly

3.4.           Disappointed to miss out due to single match in play-offs

4.0 Women’s Secretary

4.1.           Thanked for help with referee appointments

4.2.           All fixtures fulfilled great achievement with small squad

5.0 Men’s Secretary

5.1.           Recognised the role of regular scorer Clare Hunter

5.2.           Recognised the role of Mrs. Rouse in preparing food

5.3.           Appreciated the support from the women’s team in line judging

5.4.           Took part in Essex County League and completed all but 2 fixtures

6.0 Community Volleyball

6.1.           Explained the work now taking part across Tendring and Colchester

6.2.           Asked for help with the beach tournament

6.3.           School links improving

7.0 Election of Officers

8.4.           change to constitution: vote on term of service – agreed to go to 2 year cycle
